"This was a life-changing, life-affirming class. The structure and schedule were fantastic. The chance to perform in front of a live crowd side by side with professional comics twice, and have the time to get in-depth feedback and hone your act in between, is an extraordinary gift. A fantastically regarding experience. This was without doubt one of the best courses I have ever taken. An incredibly fun challenging experience with a supremely professional and supportive teacher. " - Mark Du Bois, copywriter, translor and communications trainer

Course description
We will focus on the authentic expression of the individual and put it into practice on stage. In these eight weeks, we will go through the basic tools of writing jokes, some comedy theories, the unspoken rules in the comedy business and practical stuff, like, how to hold a microphone and how you get your first gig. Every week the participants will get homework. It could be a writing practice or to research and find inspiration for your own set. The aim of this course is to have your first standup comedy piece written and ready to try out on a real stage.
Jessica Karlén has been a standup comedian since 2008 and has a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and another in philosophy with a focus on the metaphysics of laughter.
