The working group for theater and film of the Swedish Art Council has grant CEO comedian Jessica Karlén a travel grant for international exchange in theater.
Project description: ”I will travel to South Africa to establish and discuss future collaborations with comedians and colleagues for potential projects and partnerships in Sweden in 2023. The goal of the trip is to discuss expectations and develop concepts with the aim to invite South African comedians to Sweden in 2023 to teach stand-up comedy and perform at festivals. I will also perform at comedy clubs in Cape Town and wish to gain knowledge on the management and organization of standup comedy business in the country. I also hope to find three comedians who are willing to perform in Sweden in 2023-2024 (with the aim of performing a show at the Lund Comedy Festival and Stockholm Fringe 2023).”
